Abricio "Abe" Hernandez Jr.
July 2,1943 – October 28, 2024
In honor of his life and service Abricio "Abe" Hernandez, 81, passed away on October 28, 2024 at his place of residence in Galveston, Tx. Abricio was born in Galveston, TX to mother Petra Ybarra and father Abricio Hernandez. Abricio will forever be remembered as a man who always put others before himself. His character was loving, kind, smart, and resilient. Abricio Hernandez served in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate Petty Officer 3rd class and performed his duties on the USS Preston Destroyer (DD-795). And honorably served during the Vietnam War period. Abricio continued his hard work holding supervisory positions in his many years working at the cotton compress and warehouse district. Abricio enjoyed bowling, fishing, outings to the casino and countless cherished moments dancing with his wife Flora Hernandez. Abricio is preceded in death by his beloved wife Flora Hernandez and son Abricio Salvador Hernandez. Abricio is survived by loving family, daughter Clarita Hernandez-Ramirez & husband Pascual Antonio Ramirez, granddaughter Clarita Petra Neighbors & husband Ryan S. Neighbors, brothers Ramon Hernandez, Juan M. Hernandez & wife Minga Hernandez, sisters Frances Rangel & husband Guadalupe Rangel, Angie Salas, Isabel Benavides & husband Alex Benavides. While "Abe" is no longer with us his memory, words of advice and encouragement will always be treasured. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Services for Abricio Hernandez will be held under the care of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, November 4th, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 P.M. Graveside services will be held with military honors the following day, November 5th, at 1:00 P.M. at Houston National Cemetery.
