BRETT MACKIE

Brett Mackie, a resident of Galveston Island, passed away, Sunday April 14th, 2024.  Brett was born in Houston, Texas on June 27th, 1946.  Never one to stay in one place for very long. He spent most of his life on the road, whether it be as a Hot Shot Driver delivering supplies and oil field equipment all over the United States or traveling from Houston to El Paso to Chihuahua, Mexico to Honduras. It is in Honduras where he spent many years with his father, who he worshipped.  During his travels, Brett met and befriended many "Characters" who he would talk fondly of for years to come.  Brett loved telling stories about his days as a young man.  He also enjoyed fishing, riding his Gold Wing Motorcycle, reading, playing slot machines and the Texas Lottery.

There will be a gathering for Brett at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, Galveston, Saturday, May 4th at 2pm.

Brett will be missed by all his friends, and they will never forget the stories he shared in his soft-spoken tone.  Rest in peace Brett…. may your next journey be as exciting as all the rest.
