Beloved Galveston resident, Brooks Hirsch, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston.

Brooks was born September 28, 1941, in Newark, NJ where he started his family and ran a successful photography studio, Image 1 Photographers.  He met his devoted wife, Gail in summer camp while the two were still in high school.  This year, the couple would have celebrated their 60th anniversary.

In 2007, the happy couple made their way to Galveston where they quickly won the hearts of many locals.  Brooks, AKA The Emperor of Eibands, was known as a doting husband, a fabulous artist and photographer, a teller of raunchy jokes (that were somehow totally acceptable), a great prankster, and a guy that could get away with wearing Hawaiian shirts year round.

Brooks is survived by his loving wife, Gail, his daughter Jackie, his son Ara, and a bevy of neighbors that will miss him greatly.
