Caprina Jean Olguin, 62, of Galveston, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind her son, Christopher Gonzales, who takes comfort knowing that she is embraced by our lord and finally at peace.

Caprina was born on September 2, 1963, in Galveston, Texas, to Jesse Olguin Jr. and Dora Cisneros. She is a graduate of Ball High School, and she completed numerous art and writing courses at Galveston College. She spent most of her working life holding various positions in the hospitality industry, as she enjoyed the opportunity to talk to different people.

She adored her son and treasured every moment with him. She intentionally created experiences that inspired him, filled his life with wonder, expanded his knowledge, and broadened his perspective of the world. She encouraged Christopher to continue his education beyond high school and supported him in his educational journey. She was very proud of her son when he graduated from Texas A&M. She only had one child, but she loved all of her many nieces and nephews as her own. She enjoyed spending quality time with all of them and captured fun times with pictures to remember every moment. She loved art and spent her free time creating beautiful pieces of different styles that inspired her. The family will continue to cherish her artwork for many years to come.

It was important to Caprina to receive the sacraments of Holy Communion and confirmation to be welcomed into the Kingdom of God. Caprina received the sacraments at the Easter Vigil at St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica on April 4, 2026.

Caprina was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Olguin Jr., her stepfather Gilbert Cisneros, her grandparents Pete and Aurora Botello, and her grand-dog, Griff.

Caprina is survived by her son, Christopher Richard Gonzales, his father, Richard Gonzales, her mother, Dora Cisneros, and her siblings, Jo Ann Olguin, Jesse Olguin III (wife Billie Jean), Diana Regini, Jeffrey Olguin (wife Dawn), and Daniel Reyna Jr. (wife Glenda), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Christopher wishes to extend his gratitude for the love, support, and prayers received during this time. Special thanks to the Holy Family Parish for the guidance and support to help her receive her sacraments.
