Carol Joyce Blume Shaw passed away peacefully at her home in Port Bolivar, Texas, on Sunday, August 30th. She was born on December 25, 1931, to Neal Bert and Natlee Blume. 

Carol was a woman whose greatest legacy was the love she gave so freely to others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and to her family, she was simply irreplaceable. She was the kind of Mom and grandmother who made everyone feel loved, welcomed, and at home. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every generation that came after her.

 Carol spent more than 30 years working at Milt's Seafood before retiring. She also served as a substitute in the cafeteria at Port Bolivar Elementary and was an Adult 4-H Leader. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Port Bolivar and loved being part of the community she called home. 

Those who knew Carol will remember her not only for the work she did, but for the person she was. She had a heart big enough to make friends feel like family, and she loved her friends and neighbors dearly. She was always there with a kind word, a helping hand, or simply a smile. And anyone who knew Carol knew she was a genuine Walmart shopper—something that became just another endearing part of who she was.

 Carol had a way of making people feel special. Her home, her heart, and her life were always open to others. She created memories that her family will carry with them for the rest of their lives—memories of her love, her laughter, her stories, and the countless little moments that made having her in their lives such a blessing.

 Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, A.J. Shaw Sr.; her parents, Neal Bert and Natlee Blume; her brothers, Virgil, Jack, Neal Jr., Jim, and Lynn Blume; her sisters, Mildred Creel, Evelyn Criss, and Zenith Mobley; her son-in-law, Claude Chapman; and her daughter-in-law, Doylene Escue. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dianne Chapman of Santa Fe, Texas; A.J. Shaw Jr. of Hempstead, Texas; Debra Hughes and George “Tinker” Hughes of Port Bolivar, Texas; and Natlee Sanders and Douglas Sanders of New Waverly, Texas.She leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous other relatives and countless friends who were blessed to know and love her.

 Her family takes comfort in knowing that although Carol's earthly journey has come to an end, the love she gave will never end. It will live on in her children, in the grandchildren she adored, in the great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who carry her legacy forward, and in every person whose life she touched.

 Pallbearers will be Carter Kenter, Wyatt Barrow, Cody Hughes, Nathan Hughes, Scott McCracken, Justin Shaw, Irineo “Romiro” Tovar and Gerald Byrket Jr. Honorary Pallbearer will be Gregory Rodriguez

 The family would like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank-you to the Heart to Heart Hospice Team, Michelle Smith, Stephanie Evan, and Shawnee Craigen. Your kindness, compassion, and loving care meant more to our family than words can express.

 Our family would also like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, comfort, love, kindness, and support during this difficult time. Every thought, prayer, phone call, visit, and act of kindness has meant so much to our family. 

Carol was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed. 

She was Mom. She was Grandma. She was Great-Grandma. She was Great-Great-Grandma. She was a friend, a neighbor, a church member, and a part of so many lives.

 Most of all, she was home. 

Her family will carry her love in their hearts, tell her stories, share her memories, and keep her spirit alive through every generation to come. Until we meet again, Mom. We love you, and we will miss you more than words can ever say.
