It is with great sorrow that the family of Christina Maria Martinez announces her peaceful passing after at the age 65 a brief illness at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Saturday February 11, 2023 with her sister by her side. Funeral Mass is 10:00am Saturday June 3, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston.

Christina Maria was born on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon October 16, 1957 in Galveston to Mary Lou and Chef Didio Martinez, Sr. Born and raised on the Island, she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Stephen F. Austin Junior High and was a 1973 graduate of Ball High School.

Following high school she attended Lamar University where she was working on an Art degree. While in College she was needed to care for her father who became a heart patient so she moved back to the island to care for him.

Christina was very loving and helpful to her family all through the years. She became a wonderful care giver to her mother until her passing at the age of 95.

Christina is preceded in death by her loving parents Mary Lou and Chef Didio Martinez, Sr., sisters Leonora Martinez and Rachel Mayorga. Survivors include her loving sister Virginia Garza Martinez and J.D. Martinez, Jr. (Patricia) . She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who lovingly called her "Aunt Chrissy".

The family would like to acknowledge Pete Hernandez, Chris Uriga, Mike Cacioppo, Gloria (Sonia) Hernandez, Theres Rouke, Manuel and Olivia Rodriguez, Raul and Maria Rodriguez, Mario Rodriguez and Elyse Martinez.
