Colonel Michael R. Seale (USAF retired)

April 14, 1945 – February 18, 2022

On February 18, 2022, Michael Ray Seale, age 76, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas.

Mike was born on April 14, 1945, in Houston, Texas to Hilton Seale and Loma Rae Wilson.  After Loma Rae passed away, Hilton married Pauline Norris Seale who raised Mike and his sister Janice.  The family grew to include his siblings Dianne, Paulette, and Larry.  Mike attended South Houston High School where he met and eventually married his High School sweetheart, Libbie Johnson.  Mike fulfilled one of his lifetime dreams by attending Texas A&M University and playing in the Aggie Band—he even became a member of the elite Bugle Rank!  He earned a Bachelor's degree with High Honors in Business Management, was a ROTC Distinguished Graduate, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force in June 1967.

Mike began his Air Force career and spent seven years as a Communications-Computer Systems Officer.  He was asked to switch to what became his true calling—a Transporter—and spent over 20 years becoming one of the most experienced Transportation and Logistics Officers in the US Air Force.  He earned his Master's degree with High Honors in Logistics Management at the Air Force Institute of Technology and served around the world in duty stations such as:  Holloman AFB New Mexico, NKP Thailand, Ent AFB Colorado, Wright-Patterson AFB Ohio, Rhein Main AB Germany, McGuire AFB New Jersey, Dover Delaware, the Pentagon, McChord AFB Washington, and Offutt AFB Nebraska.  His military honors include: the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service medal, the Joint Service Commendation medal, the Air Force Achievement medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor.

After retiring from the Air Force as a Colonel, Mike continued his service to others by spending the next 17 years working for the State of Washington as the Department of Licensing Administrator for Prorate and Fuel Tax, then as the Managing Director of Office and Information Systems for the Department of Economic Development, and lastly as the Statewide Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) Compliance Manager.  He retired (again) in May 2010 and was overjoyed to find-out he was going to become a Yaya (a.k.a., grandfather).  Mike spent the next 12 years living in Trophy Club Texas with his family.

As a young boy, Mike treasured fishing with his father.  He also developed a habit of saying "Gig 'em" at seemingly random times!  Mike and Libbie loved travelling the world and playing golf at some of the most challenging and beautiful courses.  Mike dedicated his life to serving others and had a true love of his country, his family, and Christ our Savior.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Libbie, his daughter Rae Anne and son-in-law Scott Beasley, his son Darrell, and his grandchildren Grace and Nicholas who will all miss him greatly.

The funeral service with full military honors will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday, March 10 ^th at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas.
