Dana Martin Lindstrom

December 23, 1956 - December 31, 2025

Dana Martin Lindstrom of Bastrop, Texas, passed away unexpectedly December 31, 2025, on the afternoon of New Year's Eve, on his way home to his beloved wife, Sue (Susan Marie Kingsley), and their Yorkiepoo, Izzy, to celebrate a quiet New Year's Eve together. Dana had recently fulfilled a lifelong dream, traveling with Sue to Ireland and embarking on a Mediterranean cruise.

Dana was born in Austin, Texas, on December 23, 1956. He was raised in Germany and lived in several locations before eventually returning home to Texas.

Dana was a true "Universal Man"—a Boy Scout at heart, a Texan, a mentor, and an explorer in every sense of the word. He loved off-roading, RVing, hunting, fishing, and hiking, and he enthusiastically shared these adventures with anyone he thought would enjoy them. An engineer and scientist by training and passion, Dana had a deep love for astronomy. He participated in star parties, studied space extensively, and pursued astrophotography with his impressive collection of telescopes.

A self-made man, Dana graduated from La Vega High School and pursued higher education through the G.I. Bill, with books paid for by his employer, Kmart. He spent most of his professional career in information technology and retired as IT Director for Vitol SA.

Dana was generous with his time, his love, and his resources. He was deeply devoted to family. If something needed to be fixed, built, or installed, Dana was always there—capable, willing, and happy to help.

He is survived by his daughter, Amber Diane Lindstrom, and granddaughter, Aubrey Lindstrom; and his son, Matthew Ryan Lindstrom (wife Jessica), and granddaughter Clara Lindstrom.

He is also survived by his stepsons, Glenn Bryan Camp, Jr. (wife Jennifer), and grandsons Glenn Bryan Camp III ("Trips") and Alexander Kingsley Camp ("Zander"); and Arthur ("Chip") Kingsley Camp (wife Caroline), and grandchildren Henry Camp and Emma Camp.

Dana is also survived by his beloved older brother, Mark Lindstrom, and his twin sisters, Rita Payne and Nita Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister Shirley, and his sister-in-law Pam Lindstrom.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Galveston on January 23 at 10:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Houston Astronomical Society.
