Daniel Anthony Monnell, Sr. age 53 of Galveston died Tuesday September 19, 2023 at his residence in Galveston. Funeral services are 10:30am Monday October 2, 2023 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:30am, Deacon Robert Standridge officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Houston National Cemetery at 1:15pm.

Daniel was born March 23, 1970 in Amarillo, Texas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving 3 years in many duty stations around the world. Following his service in the Marine Corp he returned to Galveston where he tried his hand at welding all the while feeling the call back to military service. After his time working as a welder on the waterfront in Galveston he enlisted in the U S Army where he served in Iran, Iraq and Korea just to name a few. He retired with 20 years of honorable service to our nation and returned to Galveston. Daniel was a lifelong Roman Catholic and was a member of VFW Post 880 in Galveston.

Preceded in death by his father Donald Bruce Monnell survivors include his mother Mary Agnes Monnell of Galveston; sister Joan Morrison and husband Ryan of Spring, Texas; daughters Kaylyn Monnell of Galveston and Danielle Monnell of Washington, State; son Daniel A. Monnell, Jr. of Washington, State.
