It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Daniel Wayne Watts, who left us on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the age of 51.

Daniel was more than just a son—he was a father, brother, and a loving uncle. He was a constant presence, a source of strength, and someone who brought his own unique light into the lives of those who knew him. He was known for his kindness and resilience, but most of all for his generosity. He had a way of making people feel welcomed, understood, and valued—even behind that signature mean-mugged stare.

Born on September 11, 1974, in Galveston, Texas, Daniel grew up with a love for sports—especially baseball (Go Astros!) and football, proudly cheering on his Dallas Cowboys. He was a longshoreman and a member of the ILA Local 20 in Galveston where he worked for many years. If you knew him, you knew he loved a good jam session, whether it was '90s R&B, hip-hop, or rap song. He loved the beach, fishing off 61st Pier, and spending weekends grilling steak and chicken on his Lil' Smokey.

Daniel carried these passions throughout his life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether he was helping others, making people laugh, or simply showing up when it mattered most, he lived in a way that will not be forgotten.

He is survived by his mother, Peggy Lee McDowell, father, Carlos Lee Watts along with his wife, Danita Watts, his siblings, Chris Watts, Jason Watts, Melissa Watts, and Monique Guidry; along with his nieces and nephews, Jerimiah Andrews, Matthew Watts, Katrina Watts, and Raylynn Arnold, who will continue to carry his memory forward.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis Watts and Belen Watts.

Losing Daniel leaves a space that can never truly be filled, but we take comfort in the memories, laughter, and love he gave so freely. He will always be remembered, always missed, and forever a part of who we are.

For those who wish to honor and celebrate his life a memorial service will be held 6:30pm Friday, May 15, 2026, with visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, Texas. A Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Gloria's Lounge in Galveston, Texas. Everyone is encouraged to wear Blue, his favorite color or Dallas Cowboys attire.
