Danny Lee Owens, 73, of Galveston, Texas passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2021 at Jennie Sealy Hospital.  He was born January 10, 1948 in Ponta, Texas to Durwood and Pauline Collins Owens.  Shortly after, they moved to Texas City, Texas where he would graduate from Texas City High School.  Danny joined the United States Navy where he proudly served and was honorably discharged in September of 1970.  He would attend and graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, before returning to the Texas City area to work at the family business, Zip's Glass and Trim.  His career was spent at the family business.

Danny married Susan Oliver Owens and they had one son, Steven Owens.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.  He is survived by his son, Steven Owens and wife Rhonda Owens of Midway, Texas; grandsons, Mason Owens of Galveston, Texas and Matthew Owens of Midway, Texas; step-grandchildren Taylor and Hailey Reddoch of Midway, Texas and Dax Reddoch (Madison) of Huntsville, Texas; special "son" Michael Vanlowe of Dickinson, Texas.

Danny loved spending time with his family, reading and seeing old friends around the island.  A very low maintenance type of guy, he enjoyed the simple things in life.  He always had a smile on his face, was very encouraging and told you exactly how life was.

We invite you to celebrate his life on Friday, April 16, 2021.  Visitation will be at 11:00 AM and the service immediately following at noon at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, Galveston, Texas.  Per his request he will be cremated and his ashes spread on the island.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or an association/group of your choice.
