Obituary

Daryus "D.Coop" Darrion Cooper age 20 of Dickinson passed Friday October 2, 2020 at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster. Funeral services are 10:00 am Saturday October 10, 2020 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, Reverend Joel Clay officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock. The family will receive visitors on Friday at the funeral home from 5:00pm until 8:00pm where a wake will be held from 7:00pm until 8:00pm.

Daryus Darrion Cooper was born on September 22, 2000 in Galveston, Texas to Tinesha Thompson and Douglas Cooper, III.  He was a happy adventurous child with a big smile.  He loved to play with his cousins and friends. He loved sports. He was educated in the Galveston Independent School District. He culminated his education at Ball High School with the Class of 2019. Daryus was introduced to Christ and accepted Him as his Lord and Saviour Jesus the Christ at his family's church, Hopewell Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Joel G. Clay.

"D-Coop", "Coop" were nicknames given to him, which friends and family often referred to him as. He loved sports and He started playing little league sports and continued to play through school. He not only played football but he also played basketball, which was his passion. He excelled on the field and on the court. He played AAU Basketball with two teams Magic and Hornets. The enthusiasm and dedication he showed while playing sports was unparalleled. He embodied the principles of teamwork and commitment. He was a very strong, attentive young man with a selective group of friends that he called Bros. He was a passionate, loyal and true friend indeed. He left his imprint on many hearts.

Although we would have wanted more time with Daryus Darrion Cooper to see him reach his goals and dreams. His purpose on this side is completed. Just remember he fought until the finish on this side, now his eternal life starts a new in heaven. Upon his arrival he was greeted by his grandmother, Jacqueline Curry Burns; grandfather, Joe Haynes; great- grandmothers, Elvie Willis and Bobbie Thompson; great-grandfather, Issac Thompson; uncle, Craig "Pacman" Curry; aunt, Brenda Thompson and other loved ones gone on before him.

His loving memory will be treasured by his family, parents, Tinesha Thompson and Douglas Cooper, III; sisters, Dasanique Cooper, D'zyre Cooper and Diara Cooper; grandparents, Pier Walter (Joseph), Douglas Cooper, Jr. (Vera), Michael Thompson (Vinessa); only nephew, Chase Osborne; devoted auntie, Jessica Andrews; uncles, Willie Willis, Michael Thompson Jr., Dwight Simpson, Amos Curtis, Kendrick Cooper, Dedrick Cooper, Frederick Cooper; God-sisters, Jaliyah Franklin and Amani Fontenot; devoted Friend "Bro" Cameron Ashton; only niece puppy, Kacey Cooper; a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
