DAVID TOD STEWART, SR., age 67, husband of Carol Lee Dallas Stewart, departed gracefully to be face-to-face with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 9, 2021, in Houston, Texas. David was born on August 3, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana, son of the late Charles Edward (Chuck) Stewart and survived by his mother, Dorothy Irene Ponton Stewart, both of whom instilled a love for the Word of God.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, David moved to Houston to work for Cameron Iron Works. Continuing his education, David went on to study finance and earned licensures as a CFP, CLU and ChFC. David's passion for the Word of God showed in his dedicated 33-year service as a Member of the Board of Deacons at Berachah Church. David also served as Prep-School Headmaster, Chairman of the Missionary Committee, on the Finance Committee and many other committees over the years. David was a gifted teacher and mentor, authoring several episodic books titled InsidersChoice Chartered Financial Analyst Study Guides . These last 15 years, David worked as an Accountant for ACMI Quality Association Management.

Growing up as an Indianapolis 500 enthusiast, David raced Go-Kart's across the U.S. with his father. In their garage, David built the engine that won a National Title. David often teased that Houston did not smell of Indy 500 racing fumes. With his sister, Tish Stewart Hampe, and her thoroughbred horse, Cavalier, David traveled the U.S. as she competed in many horse shows. David was a National Society Member of the SAR.

On August 8, 1987, David and Carol Lee Dallas were married in Houston. They had their wedding and reception at the Houstonian Hotel Club & Spa where, over the years, David enjoyed swimming laps and then eating frozen yogurt while watching Carol at her water aerobics class. David's knowledge of Biblical truths and wisdom was taught to his family through "Daddy Stories " . He taught computer skills to his daughter Sophia who went on to obtain her Masters in Digital Media Studies. He taught compassion to his daughter Mary, now a Registered Nurse, who cared for him in his final days. He was also looking forward to his son-in-law John becoming an RN, too. As a young man, David earned a Private Pilot License and, in his later years, watched his son, David Tod Stewart II, acquire the same passion and become a Commercial Pilot. When based in New York City, David's son flew him to Broadway to watch their favorite musical, The Phantom of the Opera . David, like his father, Chuck, was an Eagle Scout. They were among the first groups to raft down the Grand Canyon. David was honored to award his nephew, Jonathan Christian Dallas, his Eagle Scout.

David's passion for his family, the outdoors, antique tools and woodworking led to many projects which Carol called "their dates". David taught his family how to build kitchen cabinets, bookshelves for his cherished library and how to renovate homes. In the family's Sportsman Road home in Galveston, David renovated and built the one wall that stood after Hurricane Ike in 2008. Among cherished memories were building the fishing pier— one board at a time , running crab traps with our dog, Sporty-Tod, boating and sailing with neighbors, skiing and jet skiing with friends, bird watching, fishing and viewing the 360-degree view of God's marvelous sunset painting in the Galveston sky.

Beautiful memories will always be in the hearts of his survivors: wife, Carol Lee Dallas Stewart; twin daughters, Mary Elizabeth Stewart and Sophia Victoria Stewart McMillen and husband, John Paul; son, David Tod Stewart II; mother, Dorothy Irene Ponton Stewart; sister, Tish Stewart Hampe and husband, Ty; brother-in-law, David Keith Dallas and wife, Michelle Lynn (Shelly) Lammel; nephew, Jonathan Christian Dallas, MD and wife, DahWoon (Joanne) Song; aunt, Amy Lou Ponton Teeter and husband, Doug; aunt, Carolyn Albert; aunt, Helen Ponton Raab; dear and beloved cousins, friends and extended family. Predecessors: father, Charles Edward Stewart; grandparents, Robert Perry Ponton and Edna Ruth Wilson Ponton; grandparents, Charles W. Stewart and Lorraine Sullivan Stewart; father-in-law, John Dallas from Daras, Greece; mother-in-law, Edith Mae Jefferies (YiaYia) Dallas; uncle, Don Albert; uncle, Herman Raab; great grand-parents, cousins, family, friends and associates.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 18, 2021, at Berachah Church 2815 Sage RD Houston TX 77056, PH (713) 622-6922 with Pastor Robert B. Thieme, III officiating.
