Josephine Robles, of Galveston, Texas, was called to her heavenly home on July 24, 2026,

at the age of 100. She was born on November 2, 1925, in Bastrop, Texas, to Inez and

Gerarda Cortez. Josephine lived a life marked by hard work, kindness, dedication, and

service to her community.

Josephine moved to Galveston Island at a young age and graduated from Ball High School

in 1945. In October 1950, she married Ismael Robles, and together they raised three

children. Through perseverance and commitment, Josephine and Ismael became pillars of

the community, owning and operating Robles Food Market and multiple properties until his

untimely passing in 1984. Josephine and her family continued his legacy for more than four

decades, making Robles Food Market a beloved Galveston staple.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Josephine cherished her family

and treasured every moment spent with loved ones. She is survived by her two sons,

Ishmael Robles and Fernando Robles; her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Noe

"Chacho" Rangel; and her grandchildren: Marco (LeAnn), Carlos (Melissa), Oscar (Kelly),

Issac, Chloe (Maricio), Bianca, and Fernando Jr. She also leaves behind her

great-grandchildren: Rhylan, Olivia, John, Natalie, Sophia, Isabella, Ava, and Boston; along

with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ismael Robles; and her

sister and brother-in-law, Veva and Isidro Delgado.

Pallbearers will be Marco, Carlos, Oscar, John Rangel, Isaac & Fernando Robles, Jr.

Josephine was the matriarch of her family—devoted, proud, and steadfast. Known lovingly

to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Lita," she made every effort to attend

their functions, milestones, and celebrations, always acknowledging their

accomplishments with joy and pride. She loved gatherings, holidays, and any occasion

that brought family together. Josephine also deeply valued her friends and customers,

whom she considered extended family, and she cherished every visit and conversation. A

faithful member of Sacred Heart Church, she loved the Lord and prayed for everyone.
