GALVESTON Denise Donna Schaper age 70 of Galveston passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at her residence in Galveston. Funeral services are 2:00pm Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston with visitation to begin at 1:00pm.

Denise was born March 3, 1954 in Galveston, Texas to Forrest Ellis Dyer and Mary Sabanovich Dyer. She graduated from O'Connell High School class of 1972 in Galveston and began a career with Galveston County working for over 25 years first with Juvenile Probation before going to Adult Probation as an administrative assistant. She was well loved by those she worked with and had many fond memories of her days at Galveston County. She and her husband, who she considered her best friend, enjoyed spending their 47 years together traveling, and especially cruising. They enjoyed more than 38 cruises together, sailing to every Islands in the Caribbean. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Krewe of Aquarius where she enjoyed spending many special occasions with wonderful friends. Until we meet again, rest with the angels.

Preceded in death by her parents, survivors include her husband of 47 years August Charles "Skippy" Schaper, Jr. of Galveston; brother Baxter Dyer of Oregon and numerous other relatives and many friends.
