In Loving Memory of Doris "Nanny" Jene Whitley Schultz

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris "Nanny" Jene Whitley Schultz, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us on September 16, 2024, at the age of 83.

Doris was the embodiment of love, warmth, and kindness. A fun-loving spirit, she always encouraged living life to the fullest and having fun even if it meant breaking a few rules along the way. She welcomed everyone with open arms and opened up her home and heart to anyone she met. It was a safe haven for all, and no one ever left her house without feeling cared for (fed) and appreciated. She tirelessly helped raise many children and did so much for her family and friends.

A talented seamstress, Doris spent countless hours creating the most beautiful dresses, whether for weddings, proms, Dickens on the Strand, and so many costumes for the kids! She spent many years as class mom, scout leader, substitute teacher or just helping at the kid's schools. She had a green thumb and found peace in her garden, where she nurtured life, just as she did with everyone around her. Her beautiful garden was as much a reflection of her nurturing soul as the love she showered on her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her little sister and lifelong companion, Vivian, and they had many adventures fully appreciating the beauty of nature sightseeing and bird watching.

She was a pillar of strength for her family. You could talk to her about anything, and she made it all better. She was everyone's Nanny and had more than enough love to go around.

Doris leaves behind her beloved daughters Bonnie Schultz New, Connie Schultz Zile, and Robin Schultz Fundling; her stepchildren Cornell and Marilynn Schultz Howard; her cherished grandchildren Melissa Wood, Kristina Cochrane, Cori Watson, Samantha Fundling, Marshal Fundling, Alexander Jimenez, Misty Cole, Linda Miranda, Kimberly Howard, Byron Howard, Michelle Howard, Jennifer Howard, Michael Schultz, David Schultz and Stephen Schultz; and several precious great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Leo Schultz Jr., sister Vivian Crow, and stepson Kenneth Schultz.
While she may no longer be with us, she has poured into us so much love and joy that we will carry with us forever. Her legacy of nurturing, pure love will live on through many generations to come.
