Dwight James Perrio age 78 of Galveston died Monday April 26, 2021 at his residence in Galveston.

Dwight was born November 4, 1942 in Port Arthur, Texas to George William Perrio and Pearl Marie Guilbeau Perrio. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Port Arthur and was a First Class Welder by trade, working at numerous shipyards on the Gulf Coast. He retired with Huntsman Corporation in Port Neches with 33 years of service as an operator. His love in life was music. He had a fantastic collection of Guitars and a 7 piece band beginning in the 60's. He even recorded a couple of songs on a 45 with Spindle Top Records "Walking Out" and "Just for You" to the tune of the Red River Valley. He was a well known musician in Louisiana and Southeast Texas including here in Galveston. His father managed the band, his brother Rickey played the drums and he played his Fender Stratocaster guitar and was the lead singer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Port Arthur Yacht Club ,the East End Historical District Association and the Galveston Historical Foundation. After serving his country honorably in the US Army for 6 months he then joined the National Guard Reserve where he was a heavy equipment operator building bridges and roads, eventually retiring in 1985. He enjoyed art welding, sailing, music, stained glass and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He involved himself in several restoration projects including a Cal 25 sailboat that he and his wife enjoyed sailing. He restored a 1920's Galveston Home and supported his wife's efforts in restoring antiques. As an animal lover his dogs were considered his family.

Preceded in death by his parents George William Perrio and Pearl Marie Guilbeau Perrio, 2 brothers Tyrone Perrio and Rickey Perrio; survivors include his loving and beautiful wife of 56 years Sandra LaGrappe Perrio of Galveston; daughters Dana Lynn Estrada and husband Julio of League City and Rochelle Ann Perrio Jeane and husband Mike of Port Neches; granddaughter Tatum Soleil Monarth Estrada; grandson Austin James Hebert and wife Alexandra Leigh Hebert; great grandson Clay Austin Hebert;  numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
