Eston Paul Ashworth age 72 of Galveston died Friday October 23, 2020 at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral Mass is 2:00pm Friday October 30, 2020 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock. The family will receive visitors from 5-8pm Thursday at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home where a rosary will be recited at 6:30pm.
Born February 1, 1948 in Galveston , Texas to Eston Isadore Ashworth and Holly Mabel Schaper Ashworth, Eston was educated at St. Patrick's Catholic School . He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving honorably in Vietnam. He was employed by the City of Galveston retiring with 30 years of service in the Streets and Recycling Departments. He was a life long member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and a member of the VFW Post 880. Mr. Ashworth was a family man that truly enjoyed time with his family and barbecuing in the backyard. He was a kind, compassionate and very giving man. Some of his favorite charities were the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude's Children Hospital, the Easter Seals and Our Daily Bread and countless other charities; He was an avid Commemorative Coin Collector.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother Raymond "Buddy" Ashworth and an aunt Alberta Moonahan; survivors include his daughters, Natisha Martinez and husband David of LaMarque and Sarah Jacobs of Baird, Texas; brother Clifton Ashworth and wife Donna of LaMarque; sister Brenda Whatt; 4 grandchildren Sean Kilpatrick, McKenzie Jacobs, Jazmine Martinez and Gabby Martinez; nephews Clifton Ashworth and Dustin Hayek.
Pallbearers are Sean Kilpatrick, Clifton "Butch" Ashworth, Sarah Jacobs, Danny Nunez, Clifton "Little Butch" Ashworth.
