Eunice Loree DeFrane (Nana) age 80 of Galveston passed away peacefully on Saturday October 30, 2021, surrounded by loving family. Funeral services are at 11:00 am on Friday November 5, 2021, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, Texas. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10:00 am. Her services will be followed by a Celebration of Life for friends and family at her home in Galveston.

Eunice was born October 12, 1941, in Corrigan, Texas to Sam Torbert and Velma Margaret Bass. She was a member of Moody Methodist Church in Galveston. Eunice's greatest love was her family. She was a Nana to many who taught those she loved the power of positivity and how to live each day to the fullest.

She loved the beach, the ocean and Galveston Island which she called home for the last 30 plus years. She had a passion for travel and made many memories on her numerous cruises and road trips over the years with family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband John Morris Defrane; grandson Chance Lamar Williams; sisters Jarvis Nell Torbert Coder and Vina Ola Torbert Moore, and brother Arneth Buddy Torbert. She was the proud mother & Nana to son Terry Williams & wife Lynn of New Caney; daughter Sharon Williams Teare of The Woodlands; granddaughters Alecia Sistrunk and husband Jeff of Kingwood, Lauren Knowles and husband Josh of The Woodlands; and Haley Olson and husband Tanner of The Woodlands; great grandchildren Adelynn, Easton, and Briggs Sistrunk, Grayson and Charlotte Knowles and Wyatt Olson; along with numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Jeff Sistrunk, Josh Knowles, Tanner Olson, Kevin Doolin, Kevin Bowdoin, and Bill Moss.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for plants or a donation to the Adopt-A-Beach foundation. (texasadoptabeach.org)
