age 72 of Galveston has gone home to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the VA hospital in Houston, TX.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 20, 2023 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, TX. Visitation will begin at 9am and funeral will be held at 10am with Pastor Rusty Martin of Island Church officiating. Burial will follow the service at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery 7301 Memorial St Hitchcock, TX.

Reception will follow after the burial at The VFW Hall in Galveston, TX at 2 pm.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Bryan Auzston, Bruce Mendoza, Daniel Mendoza, Alfredo Cruz IV, Nicholas Broussard, and nephew Christopher Brooks.

A native "BOI" Floyd was born July 25, 1951 in Galveston, TX to Bessie Jo Brooks and A.B. Strickland. Floyd was a Vietnam Veteran. He served in The United States Army and The Army National Guard. Floyd specialized in engineering and he was a diesel mechanic the majority of his life. He was an incredibly hard worker throughout his lifetime. Floyd was a loving and dedicated father.  Anyone that knew him, knew how much he loved and cherished his daughters. His joking nature and rhyming skills could fill any room with laughter. Floyd was kind, loving, compassionate and genuine. Floyd had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off of his back. He will be deeply missed. His wonderful memories shared will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Floyd is preceded in death by his mother Bessie Jo Brooks of Galveston and his father A.B. Strickland of Henderson, and brother Ronnie Brooks of Galveston.

Survivors left behind with heavy hearts include his daughters, Becky Lee Castano and spouse Denise Castano of Galveston, Dianna Marie Pucciarello and husband Jeffrey Pucciarello of Galveston, Mercy Jo Soileau of Galveston, Donna Lee Soileau of Houston, Melisa Lee Soileau of Galveston and Marlena Lee Soileau of Galveston; 15 beloved grandchildren, Gina Karacostas, Bryan Auzston, Shelbie Auzston, Taylor Enriquez, Jessica Barboza, Elaina McKinlay, Bruce Mendoza, Daniel Mendoza, Alicia Arroyo, Alfredo Cruz IV, Arinn Cruz, Adrian Broussard, Nicholas Broussard, Madison Broussard and Isla Schwem and 20 beautiful great grandchildren; Brother, Brian Brooks and wife Penny Brooks of Troup; Sisters, Tammy Brooks of Texas City and Delaine Williams of Henderson; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins along with other family and friends. To each he was special and loved.
