George Gordon Perry

AKA Gordon – Gordo - "Dammit"

Passed away on December 31, 2023, at the age of 79.

Born December 4, 1944, to George and Dorothy Perry who preceded him in death.  Raised in Port Arthur/Port Acres Texas

Survived by his wife of 25 years Melanie.  His daughter Sloane and husband Pat Lane, daughter Allison McDonald, stepdaughter Leah and husband Kris Evans.   Grandchildren Landon, Morgan, Bruno, and Ava. Step Grandchildren Morgan, Angel (Alex), Trystin and Tanner.  He is also survived by sister Sadie Droddy, his brother Bill Perry and wife Patricia.  Great grandchildren Nolan and Theo.  Nephews and nieces Rob and Leah Droddy, Emily Droddy, Chad and Emily Perry, Melissa Wright, and Gina Huerta.  Great nephews & nieces Regan, Trey, Chase, Brendon, Chris, Venessa, Angelina, Ethan, Lydia, and Stephanie.

Gordon was raised and attended school in Port Arthur.  He was active in all sports, making All State & District in football.  Attended Texas A&M and Lamour college.  Moved to the Dallas/Colleyville area in 1979.  Then the Denton area in late 1980.   Gordon's work life consisted of starting several businesses, including a salesman for American National Insurance, a business of making drilling equipment, buying property and building & selling houses in the Argyle, TX area.  Raising and training Retrievers where he received several awards and became a judge for the National Retrievers Club.  His last business was a chrome shop "Hallcraft Plating" in Gainesville TX.  After moving to Galveston TX, he worked for the Galveston Country Club golf course.

Gordon's passion in life was FUN!  His love for motorcycles took Him and Melanie on adventures from Arizona to Colorado, North Dakota to South Carolina and many rides throughout Texas.  He also was instrumental in organizing an Abate chapter in Denton TX.  He never met a stranger that he didn't approach and struck up a conversation with.  Gordon always made meeting a group of people into a party. He leaves behind a host of great friends from North Texas to the Gulf Coast.
