Gordon Arthur Savage, 73, of Galveston, Texas, passed away suddenly on May 20, 2026. Born on December 1, 1952, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Gordon lived a life defined by generosity, humor, hard work, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Lois Savage; his in-laws, Bill and Betty Whaley; and his sister-in-law, Judy Hersberger.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years, Vicky Savage, and his cherished son, Gordon Savage II, whose birth and lifelong bond Gordon considered his proudest accomplishment. He is also survived by Liz and Ken Smith; Blair Alexander and Ellen Whaley; William and Lisa Whaley; and Chris Hersberger.

Gordon will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, Scott and Betsy Smith; Kevin and Helena Smith; Greg Burland and Gina Balajadia; April and Jeff Schleier; Austin and Sammy Whaley; and Dylan Corbett. He also leaves behind his lifelong friend, Randy Rhea, who shared Gordon's love of cars, motorcycles, NASCAR racing, and relaxing days on the beach.

Known for his generous spirit and larger-than-life personality, Gordon was a simple man with a big heart. He was always the first to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends, family members, or even strangers in need. Whether providing roadside assistance, removing critters from attics, repairing golf carts, or simply making people laugh, Gordon was a man of many talents who brought joy and entertainment wherever he went.

His nieces and nephews lovingly nicknamed him "Uncle Buck" because of his unforgettable shenanigans, mischievous sense of humor, and fun-loving nature — a title he wore proudly.

Gordon worked for the Houston Chronicle for 15 years as a distributor serving the Galveston and Texas City areas. He and Vicky made their home in Pearland, Texas, for more than 20 years before retiring to Galveston, where they made their bay home their permanent residence. Even in retirement, Gordon remained active and social, enjoying part-time work with the crew at Jacked Carts of Tiki Island.

Gordon and Vicky first met while attending Pershing Junior High School. After a long courtship, they married in 1980 and built a loving life together filled with family, friendship, laughter, and devotion. Throughout his life, Gordon became a treasured and valued member of the Whaley family.

Gordon will be remembered for his kindness, humor, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Moody Methodist Church, 2803 53rd Street, Galveston, Texas 77551.
