Cummings
Jun 2, 1935 — Jul 10, 2020
Pearland
Harry Richard Cummings, 85 years well lived, was received into the arms of our Lord on Friday, July 10th 2020.
Harry (known to family and friends as "Dick") was born on June 2, 1935, and lived the majority of his life in Montrose, Michigan, where he grew and sold apples until 1981.
He met and married Joan Harger, also of Montrose, after returning from military service in 1957. Dick and Joan had recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. In addition to operating Cummings Orchard, Dick was a skilled trades machinist for General Motors, where he retired after 37 years, in 1997. In 2018, Dick and Joan, moved to the Houston area to be with their family.
Dick loved sports, and was a big Detroit Tigers fan; he also loved to fish and hunt and do anything that involved his family. Dick enjoyed people, and was genuine and authentic in the numerous relationships he cultivated throughout his life. Relatives, friends, and neighbors knew Dick as having a generous heart, common sense and integrity. He is admired by his family for these unique traits as well as his great sense of humor. Dick was devoted to his family, church and God.
Dick is survived by his wife Joan, children Rhonda Houston and husband Chuck from Friendswood, TX; Mike Cummings and wife Aline and their children Alayna and Austin from Pearland, TX; Ted Cummings and wife Kyungsook and their children Kaleb and Kaylee from Madison, AL; Richard Cummings and wife Faye and their children Josiah, Rachel, Alan, and Charles from Houston, TX.
