Helen Margaret Barentine, "Margaret" to close friends and family, of Friendswood, Texas, was welcomed home into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the never increasing age of "16".

Margaret was born December 9, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, to Pastor Robert and Marguerite (Darby) Spencer and was the youngest of four siblings. Her mother remarried a fellow musician, Dr. Ralph Vernon Callaway. They moved to Washington DC where Margaret then grew up and attended an all girl's Christian school and furthered her education through college with multiple degrees. Margaret attended many government balls with her mother who was a highly regarded violinist, organist, and physicist for Washington DC. At one such ball, Margaret was formally introduced to a military official, Mr. Henry "Hank" Acie Barentine. They fell in love at first sight and were married shortly after. Henry and Margaret ultimately moved to Texas where they opened and operated "Trouble Shooters" in Bacliff, which was a commercial and residential refrigeration and electrical company, where Hank took on contracts for NASA and local industrial chemical plants. They had five children together four sons and one daughter. Margaret stayed active in her church as a Sunday School and a Vacation Bible School teacher for over 40 years. Her unwavering faith got her through the long sickness of her husband and mother and many, many financial straits. She showed her family what faith was, how to tithe, gain wisdom, and wait upon the Lord when every door or window was closed shut. She was a God fearing, loving, compassionate woman who gave of herself unselfishly to whomever needed it. She was artistic, dignified, refined and elegant. When her children were grown and her husband Hank and her mother Marguerite passed away, Margaret put Trouble Shooters aside and began a new page in life as a caregiver for 25 years to her new friends. Margaret gave so much love to this world that it ultimately wore out her heart. She is loved and missed deeply by all who knew her especially her family.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Mindy, great grandson Andrew III, son-in-law Daryle "Shawn" and brothers, Phillip, Thomas and Timothy.

Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of faith are her sons Acie Barentine, Andrew Barentine, Danny (Kelly) Barentine, Michael (Melissa) Barentine, daughter Alison (Kevin) Henderson, grandchildren Christan, Andrew Jr., Henry, Adam, Rebecca, Etson, Kristina, Michael Jr., Mark, Matthew, Christopher, Jacob, Samuel, Phillip and Wendy, 23 great grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family would like to thank the staff at Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Institute and Kindred Hospital in Houston, Texas, for the wonderful love and care that was extended to their mother during her time of need.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday November, 02, 2019 at Clear Creek Community Church, 999 Egret Bay Blvd. N., League City, Texas 77573 with officiating Pastor; Greg Poor.
