We will be celebrating the Life of Jack Robinson, Jr. 1:00 pm Saturday, August 17 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Galveston, Pastor Susan Kennard officiating. Following the service, there will be a reception at Eaton Hall.

Jack died Thursday June 27, 2019 in Galveston. He was born on November 28, 1938 in Houston. The legacies of his life are his wife of almost 60 years, Jenny, their daughters Robin Hart with Stephen, Debbie Boozalis with George, and his brother, Daniel Robinson. He is leaving eight grandchildren: Stephen, Jonah, and Jacob Hart, and Amanda, Jaclyn, Theodore, Hannah, and Stephanie Boozalis. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack W. and Ruth (Davis) Robinson, and his brothers Virgil and Robert Earl Robinson.

After graduating from Milby High School in 1957, Jack joined the Army. He spent most of the next four years in Bamberg, Germany. The Army extended his service because of the Berlin Wall, and just as the cold war was really beginning to heat up. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Houston with his German wife and two children.

Jack went back to work for Frito-Lay, folding boxes. He wasn't in that entry level very long. Being very intelligent, ambitious, and energetic, he enrolled in the University of Houston. Working full time, he finished in five years. The diploma opened many doors for him, and he quickly worked his way up to Vice President of Operations at the Great Lakes Zone, the youngest V.P. in the company's history.

Jack joined the San Antonio home builder Ray Ellison's executive team where he transformed the company's strategic approach to high volume housing. His mantra was "consistency and predictability". He was instrumental in getting the "Home Builder of the Year" award for the company. Following the sale of Rayco in 1996, Jack put together a small team, the members possessing highly sophisticated front line skills, and successfully transforming multiple regional home builders to the Rayco approach. Jack's expertise resulted in the delivery of thousands of affordable homes.

Jack also found time to spend with his family. He often took them on great adventures. The grandchildren will forever look fondly on their childhood visits and trips with him. Weekends and vacations were built around snorkeling, fishing, hiking and sailing. He was proud of their accomplishments and enjoyed seeing them succeed. Their education was very important to him. He set up a generous education fund for both families.

Jack possessed an intense style, backed by an abundance of energy. He achieved results by being direct, demanding, and highly loyal. He had a gift for celebrations and having fun. He was famous for instituting sailing trips and fishing tournaments. He loved fast cars, planes, and boats. He had a lot of toys which he generously shared with his friends.

He will be truly missed, and his zest for life and adventures will not be forgotten.
