Janis was born March 29, 1948 in Galveston to James Eugene Kimling and Carmen Marie Filidei. She was a 1966 graduate of Ball High School and was active as the coordinator of the class reunion until the 50th Reunion. She was a girl of the 60's and lived a great representation of that era. She loved music and good concerts. In her life she was able to see Elvis Live 3 times and was a regular attendee at the Willie Nelson 4th of July concerts. She was the most avid of Dallas Cowboy fans.

Preceded in death by her parents, survivors include her daughter Dawn Pennington of Galveston sons, Scott Solis of Houston, Gabriel Madrigal and wife Gina of Jamaica Beach and Vance Court, Sr. of Galveston; sister Mary Reznicek of Galveston; brothers James Kimling, Jr. of Galveston and Dwyane Kimling and wife Tammy of Fort Worth; grandchildren Adam Flores, Aimee Dagg, Stephen Solis, Andrew Dagg, Abigail Dagg, Brandon Madrigal, Brooke Madrigal, Vance Court, Jr., Elecia Court, and Jackson Court; dear friends Toni Galicia of Galveston and Reba White of Alvin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
