Javier Treviño, 65, of Galveston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Javier was born July 5, 1961, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, to Miguel and Felix “Maria” Treviño. He grew up in Galveston and attended Ball High School.

Javier worked as a bartender at several Galveston establishments, with Gaido’s being his favorite. He enjoyed listening to Tejano music, and in his younger days, he was known to enjoy dancing. Javier will be remembered for the many friendships he made throughout his life and the special place he held in the hearts of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Micaela Patiño and Librado Treviño; his maternal grandparents, Federico Gomez and Isabel Balderas; and his aunt, Maria Angelica Treviño.

Javier is survived by his parents, Miguel and Felix “Maria” Treviño; brothers, Miguel Jr., Reynaldo Sr. (Albina Zavlotskaya), Mario Sr., Juan (Kristi), and David; sisters, Maria Treviño-Zuniga (Rey) and Elsa Skufca (Richard); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Javier’s friends who were always there for him: Jose “Pepe” Cuevas, Jose Almanza (+), Juan Thomas, Ismael Ruiz, Frank “Indio” Mendoza, and Jesus “Chuy” Reyes. The family also wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Nurse Lillian at Generation Hospice for her compassionate care of Javier; Nurse Practitioner Kevin Zellner, his primary care provider; caregivers Patricia “Patty” Martinez, Armando Cardenas, Angelica, Bessy Martinez, and Smiley; and his sister, Maria Treviño-Zuniga, for their loving care and support. Pallbearers will be: Rey Treviño Sr., Mario Treviño Sr., David Treviño, Reynaldo Treviño Jr., Johnny Ray Treviño, Rolando Treviño, and Michael Treviño.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston.

Javier will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
