Jeremiah Elijah Jones Bates age 25 of Beaumont passed away Friday, September 5, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral services are 12:00noon with visitation beginning at 10:00am Saturday September 14, 2019 at Compton Memorial Church of God In Christ. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home.

Jeremiah was born March 6, 1994 to Rebecca Elaine Bates and Alton Jones, Sr. in Galveston, Texas. Jeremiah was christened as a bay in Compton Memorial Church of God in Christ under the late Bishop Robert E. Woodard, Jr. Jeremiah was educated in the Galveston Independent School District until 2009 when his family was relocated to Beaumont after hurricane Ike, where he finished his education at West Brook High School ( The Oaks) in 2016. Jeremiah joined the Temple of Praise Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Harmon C. Dent and remained a faithful member until his death.

Jeremiah was a happy person, loved and adored by all who knew him. He showed us how to love, be considerate, be compassionate and what being patient was all about. Everyone saw a smile on his face at all times.

Jeremiah departed this life on September 5, 2019. While he is not present on earth we know he is present with the Lord. Jeremiah has left a legacy of love for his family and friends to continue. We will be grateful for the living example of God's love forever for us all.

Jeremiah Elijah Jones Bates was preceded in death by his sister Alquisha De'Shell Mason and God Father Curtis Cleo Fleming. He leaves to continue his legacy, mother Rebecca E. Bates, father Alton Jones, Sr., a very special cousin Andrea Nicole, brothers Bryan, Alton, Jr. and Alex; sisters Rakimber, Krystal, Mahogany and Brandie; aunts Robin E., Ronnica E., Orerea, Linda and Luella; uncles Robert Jr., Alvin, Keith, Kenneth, Anthony, Lil Kenneth and Christopher; great aunts Gloria, Linda, Martha, Andria and Mary; great uncles Aaron, Terrell, Vay Gregory, Kevin and Harold (PaPa); grandparents Curtis and Martha Davis and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Alex Mason, Alton Jones, Jr. Dominique Bates, Walon Wingard, Desmond Williams and Alvin Bates. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Fleming, Krien Bates, Kevin Butler, Cayden Bates and Anthony Taven.
