Jim Battle Brown, Sr. age 40 of Galveston died Monday     September 14, 2020 at UTMB Hospital in Galveston. Funeral services are 12:00noon Friday September 25, 2020 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, Pastor Michael Dwyer, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00am Friday at the funeral home.

Born November 17, 1979 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi to Jim Battle, Sr. and Barbara Jean Brown Stewart. He was a member of the Ball High School Class of 1997. Jim loved football and was an aspiring Rap Artist. He was a real jokester and very outgoing. He was an all around funny guy who could make everyone laugh at the drop of a hat. The things most important to him were his family, especially his mother, children and brothers. To him, family was everything. Rest in peace Jim, until we meet again.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Jim Battle, Sr. grandmothers Mattie Brown and Clara Fields and grandfathers James Brown and Reed Fields. Survivors include his mother Barbara Jean Brown Stewart (Johnny Kinlaw); son Jim Battle Brown, Jr.; brothers, Sedrick Brown, Sr., Jim Battle, Jr., Jordan Battle and Derrick Miller all of Galveston; sisters Cathy Battle, Veronica Michelle Battle and Tonya Battle all of St. Louis, MO and Julisa Battle of Galveston, TX; devoted friend, Ida Ray; step children Iyana Ray, Prentshea Win and Jazmine Brown all of Galveston; aunts Suzanna Hilliard and Shirley (Clyde) Williams all of Milwaukee, WI and Evelyn (George) Woods and Ada Battle all of Greenville, MS and Margaret Norman of Jacksonville, NC ;uncles Don Brown of Milwaukee, WI; and Bill Fields of Shaw, MS; niece, Kierra Brown; nephew, Sedrick Brown, Jr.; god-mothers Merdis Gordon and Helen Solzano; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers are Herbert Brown, Detrick Ruban, Jay Thomas, Rodrick Mason, Gerald Dorsey, Khoitran Jordan, Bruce Dwyer,     Brandon Brown, Patrick Brown, Corinthian Hunter, Fat Albert and Wayne Davis.
