Juan Paul Hernandez (John) peacefully departed this earth to join his wife Andrea on Monday, September 20 th .

John Paul was born on May 7, 1951 in Galveston, TX. He was a hard working family man who worked for over 50 years at the Southern Compress. He enjoyed spending time with family just relaxing, watching the Houston Texans and listening to music. John Paul is the true definition of what is means to love unconditionally, selflessly and wholeheartedly. Known by his grandchildren and great grandchildren as Popo, he will forever be remembered as their gentle giant whose big heart and hands offered protection and comfort for so many years. His kindness and love will be instilled in their hearts forever.

John Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Pablo Hernandez and Janie S. Hernandez and wife, Andrea Hernandez.

He is survived by his sisters, Linda Jimenez and husband Marco and Sylvia Perez and husband Edward; Brothers, Tony Hernandez and wife Dolores, Joe Hernandez, Jesse Hernandez and wife Glafira, Richard Hernandez and wife Rachel and Ruben Hernandez; sons, Larry and wife Rumalda Rivera, David and wife Marisela Herrera, and daughter, Isabel Herrera Robinson and husband Lawrence. He had 12 grandchildren, Monika (Mikey) Mackey, Johnny Ray (Jessica) Trevino, Richard (Carol) Rivera, Jessica (Erick) Lopez, Mateo (Emily) Rivera, Tiriq (Jennifer) Herrera, Samantha (Mykelti) Perales, Tiffany Herrera, Trishten Herrera, Vanessa Rivera, Leah Moore, Pearlie Robinson, 6 great-grandchildren, Jade, Janaya, Azariah, A'Myra, Gabriel and Madeline, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home-Galveston, Wednesday, September 29th with visitation beginning at 5 PM, Rosary at 6 PM and Liturgy to follow.
