John Peoples Killen III, known as "JK" by friends and family, was born July 19, 1959 in Johnstown Pennsylvania and died August 20, 2021 at UTMB Galveston Island Texas from complications due to COPD and viral pneumonia.

John was the son of the late John P and Phyllis Killen II of Johnstown and Stuart Florida and brother to Candra (Candy) Anderson of Bradford Woods and Deborah Furda of Pittsburgh. John graduated from Richland High School and attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. JK was a regular in the Galveston music scene and a highly accomplished guitarist, having played in many venues with fellow musicians and recording artists throughout his life. John was also a graphic designer, specializing in advertising and webpage design. He had passion for guitar and love for his friends and family. In addition to his sisters, John is survived by his nieces, nephews, and their children.
