John C Tijerina went to be with our Lord Sunday, December 5, 2021. He was 77 years old. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday December 8, 2021 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 9:15am Thursday at Houston National Cemetery.

John was born July 30, 1944 in Galveston, Texas to parents Michael and Beatrice Tijerina.

John graduated from Ball High School and attended Galveston College. He served in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam War and was honorably discharged on July 26, 1971. After his discharge from the Army, he was employed at the Texas City Refinery until his retirement. John loved his family and especially enjoyed Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays with them. He also loved his friends and enjoyed playing Bingo and going to his friend's Donut Shops and having coffee with them. He loved his Chihuahua (Delilah), who was more like his child than his pet and she loved him also.

Preceded in death: his parents Michael and Beatrice Tijerina, His Wife Phyllis Tijerina, Nephews: Benjamin Diaz, and Joshua Niswonger.

Survivors include Sisters: Alice Martinez and Frances Diaz (Jesse), 7 nieces 1 nephew, and several great nieces  and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
