Josefa 'Pepina' Salazar

GALVESTON – Josefa 'Pepina' Salazar, also known as Nana to her grandchildren, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, in the company of her loving family; she was 73. Josefa was born on March 19, 1949 in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico and moved to the Galveston area in 1975. She will long be remembered as a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was employed at Shearn Moody Plaza and retired in 2009.  She enjoyed gardening and watching her novelas.

She is preceded in death by both parents, Raul and Josefa from Zaragoza, Coahuila. Josefa is survived by her sister Noemi Garcia, her daughter Martha and husband Nathan Mounts, son Ladislao Jr. and wife Marcia Salazar, her daughter Adriana and her husband Richard Wilcox, Sr.; six grandchildren Kaitlyn Salazar, Abigail Salazar, Alejandro Wilcox, Samantha Mounts, Christian Mounts and Cruz Salazar; cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ladislao Salazar Jr., Nathan Mounts, Richard Wilcox Sr., Alejandro Wilcox, Christian Mounts, Cruz Salazar and Rafael Ostio.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 9:00 am and Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston.  Graveside Service at 12:15 pm at Galveston Memorial Park, in Hitchcock.
