Julian Macias Cruz, age 93 of Galveston, died Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at The Shoal in Texas City. Funeral services are to be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Julian was born April 9, 1930 in Houston, TX to Bartolo and Guadalupe Cruz. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, and shortly after serving he married the love of his life Irene Garcia and started a family in Galveston, Texas.  He worked in life insurance as an insurance agent, as well as a longshoreman and a landlord/manager of his real estate. He was a very successful businessperson and enabled his children to receive higher education. He was kindhearted and would always help anyone in need.  Julian was a great husband, brother, uncle and friend to many. He became a member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Galveston Texas, where he came to find love, peace and joy within this community of faith in our LORD.

Julian is preceded in death by his loving wife Irene Cruz, brothers Santos Cruz, and Raul Cruz, sisters Geralda Figueroa, Natalie Sendejas, and Antonia Garza.

He is survived by Three children, Juliet Cruz, Lawrence Cruz and wife Rose Cruz, Loretta Gomez and husband Maclovio Gomez (Pepper). His brother Felix Cruz, sisters Rosalinda Agular, and Gloria Santos. Grandchildren: Jasmin and husband Jon Deshane, Ryan J. Cruz, Michael Cruz, Christopher Gomez and wife Kayla Gomez, Melissa Gomez, and great grandchildren Aiden, Felicity, and Lucas.
