Karen Jane Burton age 66 of Galveston passed away Friday, November 24, 2023, at the Meridian in Galveston. Funeral services are 1:00pm Thursday November 30, 2023, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home 1201 Tremont Galveston, Texas 77550, Reverend Jimmy Abbott officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 11:00am.
Karen was born October 8, 1957, in Wimbledon, England to John Richard Beale and Mary Steele. Growing up in England in her early years she was an incredible athlete that excelled in cross country running, the Javelin and Net Ball (British Women's Basketball.) She enjoyed all things outdoors including diving and fishing. While in England she worked as a Stewardess with British Airways traveling the world. She also was the activities director for Chatsworth School in Swanage, England. She moved to Mexico to help her brother run his scuba diving business. She then moved to the US in 1999 traveling by boat with her husband Terence Burton. She became a US Citizen in 2007 and worked as a secretary in several businesses. She excelled in all areas of life; the best being homemaker and entertainer. Karen will be remembered as one who put others before herself always caring for her family and many friends.
Karen is survived by her husband Terence Burton of Galveston; mother Mary Fisher of Swanage, England; sons, David John Hamilton and wife Charlotte "Charley" of Bournemouth, England and Gary Hamilton of Alvin, Texas; brothers Michael John Beale and (Debra Warwick) of Bournemouth, England and Paul Martin Beale and (YuYu Arriola) of Cabo San Lucas, Baja, Mexico; grandchildren Olivia Hamilton and Zac Hamilton of Alvin, Texas, Ruby Hamilton and Reese Hamilton of Bournemouth, England, and Edward Hamilton and Francesca Hamilton of Leicester, England; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends around the world.
