Kevin Wayne Simmons age 59 of Galveston died Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral services are 2:00pm Friday, December 19, 2025, with visitation beginning at 1:00pm at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home.

Kevin was born March 28, 1966, in Galveston, Texas to Elmer J. Johnson and Celestine Simmons. He was a member of the Ball High School Class of 1984. After High School, Kevin found his place in the community where he was an excellent cook, serving in numerous restaurants and kitchens where his talents were greatly appreciated and enjoyed by many of his friends and fellow Galvestonians. He always enjoyed his free time spent on the Island with his friends that he made over the years at work and school and various social activities you could find him participating. He was a kind person and was truly appreciated by his many friends.

Preceded in death by his mother Celestine Johnson and a sister Tanya Simmons; survivors include his father Elmer J. Johnson of Gahanna, Ohio, brothers Donovan R. Johnson of Gahanna, Ohio and Andrew Simmons of Los Angeles, California, nieces and nephews Corderas, Brittany, Kayla, Porsha, Courvoisier and Neimire Simmons; aunts and uncles Stella Turner, Teresa Cole, Emily Guillory, Anna Fields, Dorothy Simmons, Bertha Ray, Rosetta Bennett, Rene Simmons, Renell Bloom and Hugh Simmons; special friend and cousin Sidney Millard and a host of cousins and friends.
