Larry George Highley, born May 9, 1950, passed away on February 3, 2026 at the age of 75. He lived a full and generous life marked by faith, family, and an unwavering sense of duty to others.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lorene Highley, and by his beloved daughter, Emily Munson, as well as by his sister Teresa Campbell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kerrie Highley; his sons, Ryan, Justin Chad, and Morgan Highley; his daughters, Marie Polega and Adele Guerin; his daughters-in-law, Kendra, Stacy, and Christina Highley; his son-in-law Doug Polega; his cherished grandchildren, Tanner, Alex, Mira, Jace, Joshua, Isaiah, and Elijah Highley; and brothers Kelly and Blane Campbell.

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Larry was a proud graduate of Northwest Classen High School. He played the tuba in marching band, a tradition that all three sons followed. He attained the level of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts. He went on to attend Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, where he earned a business degree. Larry began raising his family with Marilyn, the mother of his 3 sons, while continuing to live in Oklahoma City, working alongside his parents at the FA Highley Company and faithfully attending First Christian Church of Oklahoma City.

After selling the family business, Larry's life took him to several places he would come·to call home, including Galveston, Texas and Independence, Louisiana. Eventually, he resettled in Galveston, where he became an active member of Moody Methodist Church, attending regularly, working on the Facilities Staff, as well as serving faithfully as a member..

Larry loved his family first and foremost. He also had a lifelong passion for anything mechanical-boats, planes, cars, trains, and anything with an engine or moving parts. He found great joy in working at the Galveston Railroad Museum, a role he truly loved and that perfectly matched his curiosity, skill, and enthusiasm. While at the Railroad Museum he helped young Scouts meet the requirements in earning their Railroading Merit Badge. He was the current President of the Galveston West Beach Lions Club.

Larry never met a stranger. His natural warmth, kindness, and sense of responsibility toward everyone and every task he encountered earned him a remarkable circle of friends that seemed endless. He believed deeply in showing up, doing the job right, and caring for people without hesitation. These qualities defined his life and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Services to celebrate Larry's life will be held at Moody Methodist Church in Galveston on February 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Larry George Highley will be remembered for his steady faith, strong work ethic, and the love he poured into his family, friends, and community. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
