Lisa Anne Schweitzer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Galveston community passed away Monday, July 8th, 2024, at the age of 66. Lisa was born on July 13th, 1957, on Galveston Island and was the daughter of Alfredo and Fernanda Vaiani, both of whom preceded her in death. Growing up under their loving guidance, she developed a deep sense of caring and a strong spirit that defined her throughout her life.

Lisa leaves behind a legacy of love and service to others, which will always be cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Schweitzer, who stood by her side throughout their journey and built a loving family with countless memories. Lisa will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren: Holly with husband Dallas Allmon, Timothy Schweitzer, Andrew Schweitzer with fiancé, Amber Calhoun; and Catherine with husband Micah Orr. She was a proud grandma to Charlotte and Wyatt Orr and Neely Allmon.

Lisa took such joy in seeing Charlotte excel in horseback riding and cheerleading, sharing tea parties with Wyatt and enjoying heartfelt conversations on the phone with Neely. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren was evident in every moment they shared together, creating unforgettable experiences that will forever be treasured.  Lisa's limitless love for her family was matched only by her unwavering support and pride in their achievements.

Known for her passion for cooking and her talent for hosting memorable holidays, Lisa was happiest bringing people together around a table filled with delicious food including her favorite dishes, Italian spaghetti and meatballs and lasagna. Her gatherings were not just about food but also about lively conversation and genuine connections. Lisa paid careful attention to details ensuring that every meal she prepared and every event she hosted reflected her warmth and hospitality, leaving a lasting impact on all who were fortunate to enough to join her.

Her creativity shone through in everything she did, always adding her unique touch and infectious laughter to every aspect of life. She passed down her love for cooking to Andy, sharing recipes and culinary secrets that will continue to be shared and enjoyed for generations. Some of her favorite past-times were dining out with her closest friends, Jackie Panfilli, Beth Diestler, and Vera Carmona, relishing in good food and lively storytelling. She also valued the times spent shopping with her daughters, creating memorable moments filled with love and laughter.

One of the highlights of her later years was moving to a condo with Jim, where she relished the pleasures of visiting the spa and enjoying sunset views over the water.

Lisa was deeply devoted to teaching, creating a profound influence in over 30 years as an educator for all who had the privilege of learning from her. She instilled a love of learning, philanthropy, and kindness in her students and always encouraged them to chase their dreams. Lisa's classroom was a place of warmth and encouragement, where she nurtured not only academic growth but also personal development. Her invaluable dedication, influence and guidance extend beyond the classroom and will continue to inspire and uplift for many years to come.

To celebrate her life, a viewing will be held, 2:00pm-3:30pm, Friday, July 19th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Galveston, followed by Mass at 4:00pm.
