Lorenza S. Lopez, affectionately known as Susie, was born on August 10, 1945, to Francisca and Arnulfo Rodriguez in Galveston, TX. Growing up, Susie was one of eleven children in a family that owned a small grocery store. The family lived above the store, and she, along with her eight brothers and two sisters, would help out after school.

Susie cherished her family and community. She was a familiar face at the local VFW bingo nights with her mother and sisters and took joy in volunteering at her children's school, whether as a "Parent on Patrol" or chaperoning field trips. She was the heart of her family, loving nothing more than hosting holiday feasts or family BBQs.

Alongside her husband, Rudy, whom she married 53 years ago, she loved traveling to their property in Cistern, TX. In 2023, Susie was diagnosed with stage 5 Mixed Alzheimer's with Vascular Dementia. Despite her illness, she remained a fighter, spending as much precious time as possible with her loved ones until she passed away on April 16, 2025, at 10 AM.

Susie is predeceased by her parents, seven brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her husband, Rudolph Lopez; her children, Richard Wilson (wife Angelica), Rudolph Lopez Jr., Frances Miles (husband Alfred), Arnulfo Lopez (wife Emily); her foster son, Aaron Defoore; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Socorro Groh; her brother, Daniel Rodriguez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Susie's memory will be cherished by all who knew her as a beacon of love and kindness.

Funeral services are 12:30pm Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home with visitation to begin at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston.
