Lucille Dillow Busenhart of Galveston, Texas passed away November 13th, 2024, in her home. She was born December 31st, 1921, in Vandalia Illinois to Peter and Rose Dillow.
Lucille married John Carlton Busenhart October 13th, 1941. He preceded her in death on March 8th, 1998. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her infant son William Andrew, her daughter Janice Batten, son-in law Clyde Batten, sister Verna Keller and three brothers Martin, Luther and Ralph Dillow and great grandson Ethan Sigalas.
Survivors include her three grandchildren Nancy (Jimmy) Yancey, Brandon (Daphne) Batten and Kristina (Chris) Batten, seven great grandchildren James (Kayla) Batten, Hunter Yancey, Braedon Batten, Jorja Hamilton, Christopher Hamilton, Ean (Scarlett) Sigalas and Erian Sigalas. And four great- great grandchildren Layla, Olivia, Zachary and Samuel.
She was an English and vocal music teacher in several schools in Illinois. She was a Paul Harris member of Rotary International and an honorary member of Kappa Delta Pi of the University of Illinois.
After moving to Galveston in 2003 she became a member of Moody Memorial Methodist Church where she enjoyed volunteering in the library.
Lucille had a fulfilling life of activity in Christian education and vocal music. Her travels included Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Hawaii and all but two of our states.
After cremation a celebration of life will be held for her Texas family and friends, she will then be taken to the Vandalia Illinois Cemetery to be reunited with her loving husband.
