Manuel (Güero) Trevino Gracia, Sr. age 76 of Galveston passed away of Cancer on Sunday November 15, 2020 at his sons home in Texas City surrounded by his loving family.

Preceded in death by Manuel 'Meme' Trevino. Survived by his closest children Manuel 'Mijo' Gracia, Esteban Gracia, Victor Gracia, and Martha Trevino.

If you asked a hundred people who Güero was, they'd all give you a different story. A ladies man. A Shrimper. A Mexican outlaw. A loving yet imperfect father and brother. A caring uncle. An inappropriate joke teller. Perhaps he was all and none of these things at once depending on who you ask.

The way he died is just like he lived: he wrote his own rules, he fought authority and he paved his own way. Stubborn as they come; he hung on to life until the day he truly felt he was surrounded by loved ones.

He lived 1000 years in the 76 calendar years we had with him because he grabbed life the same way you do a bull, by the horns.

Manuel enjoyed playing dominoes outside in the fresh air, he was always up to eat sea food of all kinds, mashed potatoes with lots of butter, extra sweet cheesecakes, and his Welch strawberry pop never failed to be by his side. His regrets were few, but include not getting past his dentist phobia enough to get his much needed full dentures.

Out of all the people he touched, both willing and unwilling, his most proud achievement was finally having a daughter after 8 failed attempts.

Güero took fashion cues from no one. His signature every day look was all his own and included one of the two; plain pocketed short sleeve button down or an also pocketed but plaid long sleeve. Both options were always paired with some 1980s Levi's jeans and let us not forget the two sizes too big 'Crocks' he were everyday for the past 5 years. He'd finish his look with a baseball cap covering his luscious hair. The cap trend was either inherited by his sons, or they were the one to instilled it on him. I guess we'll never know.

Memorial services are 6:30pm Wednesday November 18, 2020 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. The family will receive visitors from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
