Maria Martha Chavarria age 70 of Galveston died Wednesday October 14, 2020 at the Meridian in Galveston. Funeral services are 6:30pm Sunday October 18, 2020 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, Reverend Ray Pinard officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday.

Martha was born July 29, 1950 in Mexico. She attended Sunshine Center and retired from the GISD after 25 years of service. She was a loving person and loved life she was a fighter. She loved to dance and listen to music Tony Sr. and Tony Jr. were her life.

Preceded in death by her father, Nicomedes Cruz, her grandmother that raised her Maria Cisneros; her in laws Manuel and Paula Chavarria and sister-in-law Janie Green. Survivors include her husband Tony Chavarria Sr.; son Tony Chavarria Jr.; granddaughters Maria Christina, Nicole, Adriana and Madeline; other family include, Albert and Margie Chavarria; Ralph and Kitty Chavarria; Manuel Chavarria and Nettie Williams; Half Sister: Sandra (Jesus) Estrada.

We would like to thank all the nurses on the 3rd floor at the Meridian for taking care of Martha the past 3 years. To Janie Puentes and Aunt Sheila Ramirez for always being there in any way they could. A Special thank you to Albert Chavarria for taking care of her through chemo, doctor appointments and being there whenever needed. The family would also like to thank everyone who was a part of her life.
