Maria S. Lujan age 86 formerly of Galveston died Wednesday February 28, 2024 at the Bay Area Corpus Christi Medical Center in Corpus Christi. Funeral Mass is 10:00am Monday, March 4, 2024 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston. The family will receive visitors from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home on Sunday where a rosary will be recited at 6:30pm

Maria was born January 29, 1938 in Ciudad Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Gregorio and Guierma De Los Santos Vivanco. She immigrated to the United States in 1949 and began a family. She was employed a cook at the Chicken Shack, Manuel's Café and numerous other restaurants as a cook for many years and then moved to El Nopolito's where she retired. She was a life long faithful catholic starting at Reina De La Paz Catholic Church and then to Our Lady of Guadalupe, then to Sacred Heart Church and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She raised and had her 13 children baptized. She was an extremely hard working and determined woman who would do whatever necessary to take care of her family.

Preceded in death by her parents Gregorio and Guierma De Los Santos Vivanco, husband Alberto Lujan, son Eduardo Lujan, daughter Maria Guillermina Aguilar, brother Gregorio Vivanco, Jr.  sisters Martha Vivanco and Gloria Vivanco; sister-in-law Fela Vivanco. Survivors include daughters Maria Estella Duran and husband Jose, Anita Aguilar and husband Carlos, and San Juana Jimenez and husband Rodolfo, sons, Alberto Lujan, Jr. and wife Rosanna, David Lujan and wife Rose, George Lujan and wife Naty, Fernando Lujan and wife Maru, Ruben Lujan, Rene Lujan, Jesus Lujan, and Antonio Lujan; sisters Mary Ramos, Magarita Tamez, Yolanda Pena, Rosa Hinojosa and husband Tomas, brother Jose Vivanco; numerous grandchildren, and great and, great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Fernando Lujan, Rene Lujan, George Lujan, Sr., David Lujan, Jesus Lujan, Antonio Lujan, Rudy Jimenez, Carlos Xavier Aguilar, and George Lujan Jr.
