Maria Rodriguez August 13, 1932 – June 10, 2026 Maria Rodriguez, age 93, of China, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Valley Grande Manor Nursing Home in Weslaco, Texas.

Maria was born on August 13, 1932, in China, Nuevo León, Mexico. She later made her home in Galveston, where she worked at Wyatt's Cafeteria at Galvez Mall. Maria found joy in life's simple pleasures and enjoyed crafts, music, caring for plants and spending time with animals.

Maria was preceded in death by her daughter, Elva Vela and her son, Manuel Fuentes. She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, including her son, Homero Guajardo; her son-in-law, Rene Vela; her grandchildren, Rene Vela Jr., Laura Guajardo, Paola Guajardo, Homero Guajardo Jr., Manuel Fuentes, Jr., and Kendra Fuentes; her great grandchildren, Rene Vela III, Esteban Vela, Cesar Vela and Cecilia Vela.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home of Galveston. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m.

Maria will be remembered for her hardworking nature, her love for family, and the warmth she shared with those around her.
