Mario S. Ramos age 93 of Galveston died Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral Mass is 10:00am Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church where visitation will begin at 9:00am. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm where a Prayer vigil will be held at 6:30pm.

Mr. Ramos was born July 29, 1932, in Melchor Ocampo, Mexico to Jose Ramos and Paula Salinas Ramos. He grew up in a good family always working hard to succeed. He married Ercilla Garcia 1959, and the couple began their family of 5 children. In 1960 he began traveling to the US to work in Chicago, Illinois and finally after getting his papers in order he moved the entire family to Galveston in 1976. He quickly found work at the Moody Compress. Being industrious he found a 2nd job at UTMB in housekeeping where he worked evenings. He became disabled by a stroke at the age of 58 but continued to take care of his family. He enjoyed traveling back to Mexico 5 or 6 times a year to see family. He enjoyed the time he spent with his growing family of grandchildren and great grandchildren. When he became unable to drive, he would take them on the city bus just to show them around.  He and his beloved wife would make sure and take the older children to Mexico to meet and get to know their extended family.  He loved the Houston Astros and the Chicago Cubs and was an avid fan always watching and cheering them on. His favorite snack was to drink coffee while he ate bread.  He was a faithful husband, father and grandfather who set a high standard for his children and grandchildren. His memory was amazing, always remembering everyone's birthday and many facts about the US and Mexico. He was faithful and true until his very last day on earth. Rest with the angels until we meet again.

Preceded in death by his parents, sisters Elisa Rivera, Lucilla Lopez, and Christina Gonzalez; brother Maurico Ramos; sons Mario De Los Santos Rams and Eliazar Ramos, Sr. survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years Ercilla Garcia Ramos of Galveston; daughters Beatrice Chavez and husband Alejandro, Sr. of La Marque and Bertha Reyna and husband Jesus of Galveston; son Rodrigo Ramos, Sr. and wife Raquel of Galveston; daughters in law Emelia Ramos Lopez of Texas City and Elva Ramos of Galveston; brothers Eloy Ramos and wife Vicenta of Galveston, Ernesto Ramos and wife Tocha of Galveston, Gabriel Ramos of Melchor Ocampo, Mexico and Leopoldo Ramos and Graciela of Galveston; grandchildren Victoria Ramos, Eliazar Ramos, Jr., Julio Ramos, Margarita Ramos, Jaquelina Ramos, Carlos Chavez, Alejandro Chavez, Jr., Carolina Gonzalez, Jose Santos, Jr., Corina Santos, Jocelyn  Reyna, Rodrigo Ramos, Jr., Andrea Ramos and Aleena Ramos; great grandchildren Nicholas Varela, Aleyah Morales, Sebastien Gonzalez, Mateo Gonzalez, Eliana Gonzalez, Mila Chavez, Benny Chavez, Delilah Santos and Liam Santos; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are his son, Rodrigo Ramos, Sr., grandsons Eliazar Ramos, Jr., Julio Ramos, Carlos Chavez, Alejandro Chavez, Jr., Jose Santos, Jr.,  Rodrigo Ramos, Jr.  and great grandson Nicholas Varela.
