GALVESTON: Mario Gonzales Serna 67, died Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Jennie Sealy Hospital. Funeral services will be 6:30PM Monday, May 2, 2022 at the Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston with Deacon Sam Dell'Olio officiating. Visitation will be 5PM Monday, May 2, 2022 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston.

Mario was born September 24, 1954 to Abelardo Serna and Santos Gonzales Serna in Galveston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Guadalupe Alcala and Deborah Fentanes, and brother Lucas Serna. He is survived by daughters Joanne Munoz and husband Lupe, Rosanne Martinez and husband Joe, and Demetria Gomez; son Mario Gonzales; sisters Yolanda Sustaita and husband Abram, and Rita Alcala; lifelong companion Diane M. Godines; and numerous grandchildren.

Mario was a Roman Catholic. He was a graduate at Ball High School and was employed by Galveston EMS. Mario was also a contributor to all veterans' organizations and the police 100 Club. Special thanks to the ICU nurses at Jennie Sealy and Dr. Jose Lulli.
