Miguel Angel Trevino age 70 of Galveston passed away Saturday, December 07, 2024, at his residence with his son, Dustin at his side.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, where a Prayer Vigil will be held at 6:30pm.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday December 11, 2024, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston.

Miguel was born July 3, 1954, in Cienega de Flores, N.L., Mexico to Raymundo Trevino and Antonia Garcia Trevino.

Miguel began his work life as a carpenter before embarking on a long career as a longshoreman, serving over 45 years and retiring in 2021.  As a proud union member of the ILA Local # 20, Miguel had an exciting and fulfilling career. He began working as a laborer, eventually becoming a Walking Foreman. He was instrumental in mentoring and training new hires by sharing his vast expertise.

On the waterfront Miguel had a reputation as a rugged and respected individual who was ready to correct improper behavior, but was also known for joking, ribbing, and "slap boxing" with Johnny Lopez.

He and his loving wife Loretta enjoyed traveling to many destinations including numerous trips to Las Vegas, Phoenix, Seattle, and hiking the Grand Canyon. Many great family memories were made fishing for halibut and salmon while visiting Loretta's sister Shirley and husband Bob in Anchorage, Alaska.

He was a man of great faith. Rest with the angels, until we meet again.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 30 years Loretta, a son Randy Collopy and a brother in law Pedro "Pete" Quintanilla; survivors include; sons, Dustin R. Johnson of Galveston and Brett Baker and wife Cindy of LaMarque; sisters Celia Quintanilla, Maria and James Lucero of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Juan and Criselda Trevino, Raymond and Irma Trevino, Armando and Jovita Trevino all of Galveston, Sergio and Beatrice Trevino and Ricardo and Tracy Trevino all of League City; sister in law and brother in law Shirley and Bob Price of Anchorage, Alaska; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Pallbearers are Juan Trevino, Raymond Trevino, Armando Trevino, Sergio Trevino, Ricardo Trevino and Dustin Johnson.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Miguel's sister-in-law, Irma Trevino for her unending love and care of Miguel during his illness as well as for Loretta during her passing.
