Nancy Caroline Wolf Turner, born in Austin, Texas, passed away of cancer early Saturday morning, January 18, 2020 while at her home in La Marque, Texas. She was the oldest child of William Monroe Wolf and Dorothy Rawls Wolf. She is survived by her husband, William Hardee Turner, her brother, William Rawls Wolf, and sisters, Sally Wolf Grinnell and Peggy Lynn Wolf, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Coni was named after her maternal great grandmother, Nannie Green Anderson from Lampasas, Texas. Nannie and her husband A.P. Anderson, had four children of their own - including May Delle Anderson Rawls - Coni's grandmother. They also raised two children of Mr. Anderson's youngest sister, Nancy Anderson, and her husband, John Quillin - Arminta (Aunt Mintie) and William Quillin. William Quillin's son, Roy W. Quillin was an ornithologist, and married Ellen Schulz. Ellen Schulz Quillin was a botanist, and founder as well as longtime director of the Witte Museum in San Antonio. Coni visited Ellen Quillin with her mother and grandmother numerous times when Ellen was collecting samples for the museum - sparking a lifelong interest in Texas wildlife and indigenous Texas plants.

The Andersons were some of the original settlers in Lampasas, and the family grave site in Lampasas has been designated by the Texas Historical Society as one of the oldest grave sites in Texas. When A.P. took his daughter, May Delle to the Baylor School for women in 1901 (when she was 6 years old), they went by covered wagon, and were attacked by Indians on the trip- but were not harmed.

A.P.'s mother, Mary Medlin Anderson, was one of the original eighteen founding members of the Lonesome Dove Baptist Church in Southlake, Texas. The name was made famous by Larry Mc Murtry in his iconic Texas novel. Mary and A.W. Anderson came to the Republic of Texas from Missouri in 1844, before Texas became a state.

The Wolf side of the family came from Germany in the 1750's, and Jacob Wolf settled in the Arkansas territory on the White River. His son, James M. Wolf, had one son-James Madison Wolf-who moved from Arkansas to Weatherford, Texas. He enlisted in the Civil War, and fought in the Battle of Galveston and in the Battle of Sabine Pass. He later moved to Austin, and had eight children, one of which was Coni's paternal grandfather, William Monroe Wolf, Sr. - or ''Willie". Coni was a favorite of both grandmothers-Ora Wolf and May Delle Anderson Rawls. Coni was considered the historian of the family because she knew many of the family members that her brother and sisters never met. Coni and Hardee visited the original Wolf home and museum in Norfork, Arkansas - now listed in the National Historic Registry.

Coni and Hardee married on June 23, 1991, and settled in Houston while Hardee was working for Brown and Root. They loved the beach and the bay - Hardee loved fishing and Coni loved searching for shells on the beach. Hardee's sister, Jane, and her husband Lee Davis, live in Galveston - and Coni and Hardee have enjoyed being close to them. The reality of caretaking by one spouse for the other with cancer shows not only love - but the character of a person. Hardee will have a special place in heaven for accepting that responsibility for Coni. Her family deeply appreciates his final loving care for her.

Coni had several close friendships that lasted a lifetime. Coni was a kind and sweet spirit, and we know she is dancing in heaven with her family and friends that have gone before.

Funeral services are 10:00am Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston with visitation beginning at 9:00am. Burial will follow at 3:30pm at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery 2800 Hancock Drive Austin, Texas 78731.
