Obituary

On the bright and blessed day of February 27, 1941 in Independence, Texas, two bouncy baby twin girls, Nellie Jean and Walterine, were born to the proud parents of Joe Willie Burrell Sr  and Allene Inez Cunningham Burrell. In addition to herself and her twin, she had seven other siblings; Jolene Crockett, Joe Willie Jr., George Burrell, Johnny Rae Burrell, Lenora Petterson, Billy Yaldery, and Racheal Burrell.

At an early age, Nellie was baptized at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. Her father would later relocate their family to Houston, Texas, where she became a graduate of Saint Nicholas Catholic Private School. After graduating, she worked at St. Joseph Hospital as a Dietary Aide for over 11 years. Her passion of helping others lead her to a fulfilling career in the healthcare field as a Nursing Assistant, and she remained a dedicated caregiver for more than 25 years.

On October 7, 1960, Nellie gave birth to her only child, a healthy baby boy, Robert Allen Burrell Sr,

After meeting Richard "Earl" Morris, she would later walk down the aisle of matrimony to become his faithful and devoted wife on September 27,1979 and remained his wife for 41 years. She later joined and became a member of Internal Hope Fellowship Church and was a faithful and dedicated member until her health began to decline.

Nellie departed this earthly life and gained her heavenly wings on December 3, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe Willie Sr . and Allene Burrell,; her husband, Richard Earl Morris; twin sister, Walterine Brown; sister, Rachael Burrell; and daughter-in-law, Carol Burrell.

Our beloved Nellie leaves a lifetime of precious memories to her son, Robert Burrell Sr,; grandchildren Chauncia Farayola (Isiah), Bettye Couvson, Chasidy Burrell, and Robert Burrell II; great grandchildren: Cortlon, Cortnee , Carlee , Kamyrn , Dillon, Kyra, Madison; and a host of other relatives, church members, and numerous friends.
