Norma Jean Martinez of Galveston died Thursday November 18, 2021 at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral services are 10:00am Tuesday November 23, 2021 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:00am. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston.

Norma Jean was born February 27, 1935 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont 86 years ago. She was a housewife, teacher and friend who will be missed by her family and many friends. She enjoyed playing marbles with her kids (board game), going to the nearby casinos to try her luck on the slots and the Mardi Gras in Galveston. Taking care of her family was her greatest joy and accomplishment.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Madeline, and Gordon Dresser; Anthony G. "Tony" Martinez, spouse of 65 years, her youngest son, Michael Martinez and grandson Steven Martinez.

Survivors include four sons, Anthony "Sam" Martinez (Annette), William "Billy" Martinez (Connie), David Martinez (Sue) and Buddy Martinez (Teresa); her daughter, Sharon Alcala; and her sister, Audrey Overton (Ken); numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Pallbearers are David Martinez Sr., David Martinez Jr., Robert "Buddy" Martinez, Marvin "Tony" Green, William Martinez, and Raymond Bare. Honorary pallbearers are William "BJ" Martinez and Jimmy Summerfield
